Social Studies w/ Nathanial Jay + Brek. One upstairs!!!
March 1, 2013, 9:30 pm
Upstairs:
DJ Brek. One spins hip hop, reggae and party jamz all night!
Downstairs:
Nathaniel Jay has been flying the flag for Underground House Music in New York City for over a decade now, but it’s been in recent years that he’s really struck a chord with people. First, through the music he made as one-half of soho808, and now through his vinyl-only label, the Love Revolution; an imprint dedicated to what Jay describes as, “True Deep House”. His studio at 766 Underground Headquarters in Brooklyn is a testament to his love of vinyl; stacked floor to ceiling with countless gems from the last 25 years of House Music.
Currently on its second release, the Love Revolution has much in store for 2013. “Without saying too much, I’m really excited for this year”, Jay says. “I’m excited about music we have signed from James Johnston, Shane Linehan, Joey Kay, a new producer from DC named Dj Nav, and more. I’m very excited to see where we take this in 2013.” Originally Born in Massachusetts himself, Nathaniel knows a little bit about the Golden Age of House music in Boston. “I grew up shopping at the old Satellite on Mass Ave. I’m really excited for this gig!”
Supporting Nathaniel on this night, two non-strangers to the local house scene. Social Studies Resident Alfredo, and Mark Ingram who currently holds residency at Re:Set & Never Say Never.
Expect things to get Deep. Heavy 909 sounds at a fast pace. Experience Deep House as it was intended to be!
See ya on the Dance Floor & Let’s get Social.
