~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Awakenings crew and Fractaltribe would like to thank you, our wonderful friends and family for coming out and showing your support at our June 6th fundraiser. Thanks to all of you, we were not only able to raise our collective consciousness and join together as one tribe in a celebration of dance, we were also able to make a notable contribution towards Fractaltribe’s next great adventure, Subculture:Tribe of the Sun, in NYC.
We would also like extend our love and gratitude to all who came out to help us celebrate Awakenings’ first Birthday, we couldn’t have asked for a better evening! Thanks to all who were a part of it! We would now like to invite you to join us for another very special edition of Awakenings, as we celebrate the birthdays of two of our beloved crew members, Kyle and Diana! While we celebrate their next journey around the sun, we will embark on a journey of our own, guided by the psychedelic sounds of Rakshasi Hornpipe, Flynt and a special birthday set from our own Artemis . So please, join us July 11 as we celebrate the only way we know how, with a night of psytrance.
~Rakshasi Hornpipe~ (SYNC/Radial Engine Tribe/NY) – Taking his name from a demon-defeating dance in Aldous Huxley’s utopian novel Island, Rakshasi Hornpipe is a New York based DJ, raised on Technics & 12” vinyl in the late ’90s. With a decade plus of mixing in & out of various EDM genres, from progressive breaks to atmospheric drum & bass, his mixing is tight & smooth, using harmonics & long blends. In 2008, Rakshasi Hornpipe stumbled into the world of psychedelic trance, reignited his passion for dance music, melted down the vinyl, & started traveling a little lighter. Now, his sets range from deep, groovy twilight sounds to heavier mental mania. A regular DJ in upstate New York & an increasingly familiar face behind the decks in NYC, he has DJ’d all around the Northeast US, from urban warehouses to open country fields & forests, allowing the energy of the atmosphere to shape the music. A member of the Radial Engine Tribe (Upstate NY) & a recent addition to the SYNC (NYC) team, Rakshasi Hornpipe is grateful to weave together sets from so many talented psytrance producers for you to stomp away your stresses on the dancefloor
~Flynt~ ( Pureperception Records/Archaic Revival /GA) With over thirteen years of dj’ing experience, and five years of production, Flynt has developed an eclectic blend of sounds throughout the digital realm. Flynt has shared stages throughout the U.S. with artists Penta, Jeff Mills, Ocelot, Talamasca, LuneCell, Ghreg on earth, Richard Devine and Bird of prey, to list a few. In his versatility, while currently focusing on a delicious mix of dark and techy psygressive trance and breaks, Flynt still remains true to his experimental and psychedelic roots as a dj and producer. As the electronic music scene evolves, you can expect him to continue to push the boundaries of sound…
~Artemis ~ (Fractaltribe/ MA) – Diana Levy, better known as Artemis, a name she picked for herself long before attending her first party, is a woman on a mission; not just to make you dance, but, also to make you think. Coming from a background of classical violin and vocal training, Artemis took to the wide variety of sounds within electronic music, and began to experiment with them as much as possible. As her journey evolved, so has her music and her passion to create smiles and good times wherever she plays. She has joined forces with Tight Crew as one of their DJ’s, and as a coordinator for all ambient rooms at their events, very often both decorating the room and playing psychedelic downtempo beats. This has only increased the diversity of music Artemis plays, which previously included psy-trance of many kinds, electro, techno, breaks, dubstep, and house. She also works with Fractaltribe, Awake Productions, and is part of the Awakenings crew, working on decorations and artwork, making each event look as spectacular as the music sounds, creating exciting spaces for people to explore while at events, such as the various Subculture events. Through these special projects and many of her other gigs, Artemis has been able to transcend cultures and reach people from all walks of life. “I feel renewed and awakened in a way that I had previously never thought possible. This music is magic; teaching the body to move, the mind to listen, and the soul to let go. I hope to help my audiences feel this same magic I feel.”
