Social Studies is back again, and we’re more than excited & pleased to welcome back Kim Ann Foxman to Boston on Friday, April 27th at the Good Life. Many of you know Kim Ann from the largely talented, hugely successful & critically-acclaimed disco outfit Hercules & Love Affair, who’s self-titled debut release on DFA Records was the soundtrack to many lives and parties worldwide during the Spring and Summer of 2008. The first single “Blind”, was awarded Best Song of 2008 by Pitchfork Media and ranked sixth in Resident Advisor’s Top 30 tracks of that year.

Since her recent departure with H&LA, Kim has been up to big things as a DJ and Producer. Just this month, Kim Ann will be traveling across the globe with dates in Cities like Munich, Berlin, Rome & Montreal. As a Producer, last year saw her debut EP on Andy Butler’s MR. INTL label, and Remixes of artists like Billy Ray Martin & X-press 2 on highly praised labels like Skint, Gomma and Need Want. Though now focused on making music, She’s also lend her vocal talent to Acid House auteurs KiNK & Neville Watson on “A Saturday In November” (Hour House Is Your Rush Records); a highly charted Single amongst well respected Deejays.

It’s no doubt that Kim Ann has the respect and admiration of many of today’s groundbreaking and innovative producers and record labels. Her knowledge of classic and Chicago house is impressive as one can see in the mixes she’s put out over the years. Having started her career in dance music in the mid-90′s performing in various electronic music acts, Kim Ann Foxman essentially grew up on the sounds of English ex-pats ‘The Wicked Crew’ (later to become Rub-N-Tug), Los Angeles legend Doc Marten and the many Chicago house DJs that came through San Francisco during the period.

We saw Kim play here last year and we were blown away… for real…technical chops, advanced programming and a natural ability to turn the party out! Very exciting to watch and hear. Kim Ann most definitely knows how to appeal to many, and get the crowd excited and eager for more.

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to see Kim Ann up close and personal at an intimate venue such as Good Life. Opening support comes from Social Studies’ own Brenden & Alfredo.
